Loves from Borneo,

The Proboscis Monkey

Proboscis Monkey often known as the huge-nosed, big-bellied and not the ordinary tree swinging monkeys. As one of the Asia's largest monkey, they are endowed with some of the most charming jungle skills, from leaping off from tree and into rivers with three (3) comical belly flops to incredible dog-paddling swimming aptitude using their partially webbed feet. They are also among the few animals to be able to walk upright at any length of time.

Unlike other wildlife species that are scattered around the country, proboscis monkeys are mostly concentrated in Kinabatangan, Sukau, Sandakan, Klias and other parts of Sabah.

This year, Proboscis Monkey is honoured to be as the mascot for Visit Malaysia 2014. The use of the proboscis monkey as the mascot for VMY2014 will give credence and recognition to wildlife, and thus, instil a new spirit and interest among tourist to appreciate the gift of nature as a national tourism asset.

All in all, choosing the proboscis monkey as the mascot for VMY 2014 is indeed a perfect choice :)

I'll bet you, it is a MUST for you to visit them when you touch down to Sabah, Borneo. Don't wait any longer, do make your date with these proboscis monkey with us!
